19 January 2004  |  4019 views  |  0 EquiLend appoints Sharon Walker to run new European business

Consortium-owned securities lending platform EquiLend has been authorised by the Financial Services Authority to operate as an alternative trading system in the UK and has appointed SunGard's Sharon Walker as head of its newly-established European subsidiary.

Walker joins EquiLend from SunGard Securities Finance, where she served as a corporate account manager for the European market, and as a managing director of Loanet UK, a predecessor firm. Prior to joining SunGard, she worked on securities finance ASP solutions at Reuters for more than seven years.

In her new role as managing director of EquiLend Europe, Walker will be in charge of all European business development and client relations for the company, which has handled over three-quarters of a trillion dollars in securities lending transactions since it was launched in June 2002 by a consortium of ten major investment firms.
