California CRM vendor Kana has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Hipbone, a provider of online customer interaction software to financial institutions, for an undisclosed sum.
Hipbone was founded in 1998 and provides co-browsing, live chat and file sharing technologies for customer support and sales executives within banks, brokerages and other financial institutions. The firm's customers include Wells Fargo Bank and Diversified Investment Advisors as well manufacturers such as Veritas and NCR Corporation.
Kana says it will offer Hipbone as a stand-alone product as well as integrating the Web-collaboration software into its iCare, Response, Contact Centre and IQ products.
Brian Kelly, executive vice president of products at Kana, says: "Hipbone will immediately increase the value of our product line and our industry solutions."
The transaction is expected to close in Q1 2004.
