ING Direct, the Internet and phone banking operation of the Dutch bank ING, is installing Cognos' business intelligence (BI) software across the enterprise to monitor and analyse company performance.
ING Direct will use Cognos' reporting and analysis software to identify cost saving opportunities. The system will access data from a number of sources at the bank, including an Oracle data warehouse, to uncover trends in business performance.
Cognos says its BI software will enable ING Direct to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and track market and risk exposure via a Web-based dashboard.
Arline Loh, vice president of management information systems, ING Direct, says the software will present staff with complex customer, marketing and financial information in a simple visual format.
"Using Cognos business intelligence will greatly increase our ability to recognise and react to trends in sales and marketing and help us to identify opportunities that will enable us to better serve our customers," adds Loh.
