Last year Switch Card Services, owner of the UK debit card Switch, agreed to change its brand to Maestro and to migrate transaction processing to MasterCard.

All inter-bank Switch volume is now being processed by MasterCard's processing platform, which has been tailored to accommodate the specific needs of Switch banks, cardholders and merchant.

Roger Alexander, chief executive, Switch, says: "MasterCard has been able to deliver the move to its processing network seamlessly and on time, with no interruption experienced by our customers."

MasterCard says the success of this migration demonstrates that its processing capabilities can be deployed for both domestic and cross-border transactions.
