MasterCard says it has enrolled 2511 card issuers and 123 acquirers in its e-commerce authentication programme SecureCode.
The SecureCode service is used by Internet merchants and banks to authenticate cardholders shopping online. The card organisation says the latest user stats, which include 9000 active retail sites, demonstrate growing momentum for the programme.
Additionally, MasterCard has signed SecureCode agreements with 115 technology vendors to license the security specification for integration with third party applications.
Both SecureCode and rival service Verified by Visa are striving to build a critical mass of retailers and banks for their respective offerings.
