Version 2.6 of Cortex will be used to manage all the processes involved in issuing and authorising payment cards. The bank will also use the software to develop multi-application chip cards.

Majed Burjak, AGM operations, JKB, says: "Upgrading our Nomad Cortex system has enabled us to pioneer the use of smart cards in Jordan."

Nomad says the product will enable Jordan Kuwait Bank to migrate to EMV standards well ahead of the January 2006 regional deadline.
