Tony Cataldo, one-time fintech sales whizz, biotechnology bigwig and Hollywood mogul has resurfaced as non-executive chairman of Brand Partners, a New York-based provider of branch planning and consulting services for financial services companies.
Cataldo has been brought onboard to assist the company in raising capital and restructuring its balance sheet. He also plans to aid the company in its efforts to recruit new board members and to help develop strategic alliances and identify acquisition candidates.
Cataldo has a colourful past. A former salesman at wholesale banking systems vendors Internet Systems and Management Technologies International, he made his fortune in the late 1990s as chairman of Senetek, a biotechnology firm whose market capitalisation increased by several hundred million dollars on the promise of developing solutions to treat erectile dysfunction. From Senetek he moved to Hollywood, working in the independent sector as a producer and head of an online casting agency. He is currently chairman of Calypte Biomedical, a California-based healthcare firm developing diagnostic tools for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.
"I am delighted to welcome Tony to the BrandPartners team," says James Brooks, newly-appointed CEO of Brand Partners and its wholly-owned operating subsidiary Willey Brothers. "His relationships with members of the investment community should prove invaluable in helping us improve our balance sheet."
