NAB welcomes Government's ransomware action plan

NAB has welcomed the release of the 2021 Ransomware Action Plan by the Australian Government today.

“NAB continues to play an active part in supporting the Federal Government in its efforts to protect Australians from cyber threats,” said Patrick Wright, NAB Group Executive Technology and Enterprise Operations.

“We know the cyber threat landscape is ever evolving and the volume of threats, including ransomware attacks, particularly on our business customers, continues to increase year on year. We’re pleased to see the measures introduced in the action plan for tougher penalties, in an effort to deter bad actors.

“Mandatory reporting of ransomware attacks will provide a more fulsome picture of the impact cyber-crime is having. Business and government cooperation is crucial to expand our knowledge and understanding of the threat landscape.

“We’re committed to help our business customers of all sizes combat ransomware and its effects.”
