Bank of America announced today it will expand its customer call center operations and move the center from its current location to 4509 East 47th Street South.

The bank will invest more than $10 million to renovate and equip the new call center, which will be approximately 50,000 square feet.

In June, Bank of America will begin recruiting for 35 new associates who, like their colleagues at the center, will provide service and support for customers across the country who hold CD and IRA accounts with the bank.

"We are very pleased to work with the Greater Wichita Economic Development Coalition, the Kansas Department of Commerce and other local officials to keep the call center here in Wichita and create additional jobs for this community," said Rob Allison, Kansas state president, Bank of America. "The opening of this new call center represents a substantial investment in Wichita, and our community and our customers come out as winners."

Bank of America will open the new facility by October 2006. The facility will feature an efficient, open floor plan, training and conference facilities and a large break room for bank associates. The bank signed a 10-year lease on the facility.

"We have the wonderful opportunity to celebrate yet another boost to our local economy, by retaining and growing Bank of America," said Sedgwick County Commission Chairman Ben Sciortino. "Clearly, the strength of the GWEDC partnership continues to help businesses succeed in our community and provides jobs for our citizens, and that's important for all of us."
