Level Four Software, the leading provider of open standards-based ATM testing and development software, has signed a licensing agreement with TietoEnator Banking & Insurance, a leading supplier of high value-added IT services in Europe.

Level Four's ATM Developer will optimise the development and testing of TietoEnator's switch solution, Card Suite (Transmaster). The licensing agreement extends the partnership signed between the two companies in March 2005 and reinforces Level Four's position as the de facto standard for ATM testing and development worldwide.

TietoEnator's Card Suite solution is used by banks and processing centres in different countries worldwide for the complete cycle of payment card processing - from card issuing through to electronic payment operations via Internet and mobile communications. Due to the complexity related to testing the transaction processing lifecycle, TietoEnator sought an automated solution to eliminate the ATM hardware dependency and cost inherent in manual testing.

TietoEnator will use Level Four's ATM Developer to simulate the ATM hardware and software environment to improve the testing process. This "virtual ATM" concept enables users to test every stage of a transaction - from card entry through to online interaction with the host system - directly from a desktop PC. The cost and time taken for development and testing cycles are greatly reduced, optimising TietoEnator's internal processes.

"TietoEnator prides itself on the delivery of high quality solutions to our customers and we constantly seek new ways to enhance and improve our existing service level. With ATM Developer, we will decrease our testing and development cycles, therefore will be able to deliver next-generation ATM solutions to our customers more quickly," said Egils Bogans, director of partner products business development of Card SBU, Banking Solutions, TietoEnator Banking & Insurance.

"We were particularly impressed with ATM Developer's comprehensive configuration file management for ATM networks. The solution's graphical workflow editor enables our developers to introduce new functionality and modify existing configuration files in a simple, graphical way. Configuration files are then tested online against the host system before being deployed throughout the network. ATM Developer will enable our customers to introduce new content or services to their ATM network easily and cost effectively so that they can focus on competitive differentiation."

ATM Developer's EMV-compliant capabilities will assist TietoEnator's customers in their EMV (Europay, MasterCard and VISA) migration efforts. ATM Developer also supports new security and encryption technologies such as Triple-DES, aiding migration and providing ongoing functionality support.

Martin Macmillan, CEO at Level Four Software, said, "We are delighted that TietoEnator has extended our relationship to include an ATM Developer licensing agreement. The licence strengthens our relationship with a key European player and we are confident that it will help to further promote our solutions as the ATM testing and development vendor of choice in the Baltics and CIS. The region plays an important part in our global expansion plans."
