"Our customers are increasingly using Microgen Aptitude to develop whole new applications," remarks David Sherriff, Group Managing Director, Microgen plc "Composite application tools provide the flexibility to change with the dynamic competitive and regulatory environment in which many organisations are now operating. Microgen Aptitude harnesses the functionality of existing applications, integrates business rules and business processes, including external web services, and delivers modern front-ends to users and their customers. The graphical rules and process engine produces a high performance data-driven executable solution, without the requirement for custom coding or inefficient code translation."
Microgen Aptitude is a leading example of the next generation of BPM tools that create Composite Applications. These are applications in which different layers can be implemented and modified independently of others, e.g. process logic, business rules, workflow, integration, database and presentation layer.
Microgen Aptitude conforms to a "Service Oriented Architecture" (SOA), enabling other programs, web services, or libraries to be integrated into the application or solution. Microgen Aptitude uses a graphic user interface to construct and design the business process and business rules, to define the web forms and the navigation within an application. This facilitates business users in defining, auditing or modifying the rules and processes within a comprehensive security model.
The original version of the product was released in 2005 and is live in a number of blue-chip organisations within the investment banking, energy and wealth management sectors. Version 2.0 was released on 9th March 2006.
