RSA Federated Identity Manager software now supports the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) 2.0 protocol, which greatly expands the potential applications for federation. In addition, architectural enhancements and other new features position RSA Federated Identity Manager software as an ideal long-term solution for business-to-business (B2B), business-to-consumer (B2C) and government-based identity federation initiatives. Because the software is not bound to specific web single sign-on solutions, customers may integrate RSA Federated Identity Manager software into heterogeneous technology environments.

RSA Federated Identity Manager 3.0: Key Features and Benefits

By supporting SAML 2.0, which consolidates best-of-breed features from SAML, Liberty ID-FF and Shibboleth specifications, RSA Federated Identity Manager software enables customers to leverage the latest version of the industry's most mature identity federation standard. RSA Federated Identity Manager 3.0 software is certified as 'Liberty Alliance Interoperable' for SAML 2.0 by the Liberty Alliance for all Identity Provider (IdP) and Service Provider (SP) use cases, which ensures the solution is fully interoperable with identity solutions from various technology vendors. Additional features include:

* Improved management and scalability with a brand new graphical user interface (GUI): RSA Federated Identity Manager 3.0 software delivers a completely redesigned browser-based GUI, which is easier to manage and provides enhanced features (e.g., searching and pagination) vital to expanding federation initiatives. The new GUI also enables customers to easily manage multiple connections -- unlike some competitive solutions that may become onerous as the number of partner connections expands. Wizard-based configuration, advanced troubleshooting capabilities, intelligent defaults and features such as one-step partner configuration serve to make identity federation faster to deploy.
* New tools for testing federated connections: In order to ease the deployment process, RSA Federated Identity Manager software delivers a self-contained framework for prototyping and testing the solution internally, or with SAML 2.0-based partners. The framework includes comprehensive templates for IdP and SP configuration, authentication and policy -- as well as a full suite of sample web pages -- allowing customers to test initial connections in only a matter of minutes.
* Architectural improvements for increased flexibility and performance: RSA Federated Identity Manager software now provides greater integration flexibility with expanded application server support, an embedded data store for lightweight deployments, and an improved plug-in architecture that both facilitates integration and improves performance through connection pooling.
