Siemens Business Services (SBS) has secured a major contract in Belgium with the Federal Public Service for the Ministry of Finance.
SBS will implement the first two phases of a comprehensive datawarehousing and datamining project, dedicated to risk analysis and fraud detection. The project, worth almost EUR 12 million, shows Siemens expertise in major ICT re-engineering projects.
As part of a major modernisation project called "Coperfin", the Belgian Federal Public Service - Finance have deployed 16 ICT re-engineering programmes. One of these is an ambitious and innovative program which will use advanced Information Technology to better analyse risks and detect frauds. Through the collection of information from several sources and databases, it will create one central reference system, a "datawarehouse", in which civil servants can compare, control and consolidate information about tax issues. Siemens Business Services will lead the first two phases of this project.
Siemens will combine the services of a number of existing IT providers such as NRB, IKAN, Bull, Cronos, IBM, SPSS, Microsoft and Guidance to form a solid and highly-qualified project team. The contract will not only include the management of the project, but also the implementation of the solution with the help of the above partners.
