Travelex, the world’s leading foreign exchange provider today launched the opening
of five ‘retailtainment’ and ‘open concept’ currency exchange stores at KL International Airport, Malaysia. The bureau de change stores at KLIA, which feature digital and
interactive technology aim to create more engaging and fuss-free transactions for those
traveling through KUL.
According to Malaysia Airports’ general manager of commercial business, Hani Ezra Hussin, who was present at the event, the launch of the ‘retailtainment’ and ‘open concept’ based currency exchange stores at KLIA marks another first for Malaysia Airports as it rolls out its commercial reset initiative. “With Travelex located strategically at our airports, travel must-dos such as exchanging currency will no longer be a dull experience. Travelex’s vibrant and interactive set-up allows fun additions such as quizzes, where guests can partake and redeem free prizes while fulfilling their travel needs. This move aligns perfectly with our transformative plans to profile Malaysia Airports as a lifestyle destination,” she added.
Travelex is redefining currency exchange with extraordinary value-added services. Chairman of Travelex Malaysia, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri AP Arumugam shared that Travelex Malaysia is the first pioneer to launch the brand new ‘retailtainment’ and ‘open concept’ bureau de change store with digital interactive access in South Asia. “We design our stores to best serve our customers by providing hassle-free and digital-friendly currency exchange experiences.”
Asia Pacific commercial director of Travelex, Cameron Hume shared that Travelex aims to offer more than just currency exchange services to travelers. “Our ‘order-online-and-pick-up-instore’ services bring utmost convenience to travelers. Also, we bring the total airport experience to travelers. Travelers can access to Travelex interactive currency exchange through our travel guide and fun quizzes while waiting for their flight. We want travelers to relax while Travelex takes care of their travel money needs.”
To ensure a wider reach, Travelex is collaborating with the duty-free retail arm of Malaysia Airports, Eraman, by offering its customers with exciting rewards and greater access to Travelex’s valued-added promotions.

The trading director for South Asia & country general manager Malaysia of Travelex, Rakesh Aravind, shared that the new transformation of currency exchange store concept, which is in line with Malaysia Airports’ commercial reset strategy, will offer exceptional currency exchange experiences to travelers, including rewarding shopping experiences through its partnership with Eraman.
