HSBC Technology India (HTI), part of the Technology function of the banking group launched the second edition of its ‘Take2 programme’ created to help women who have taken a break from work to restart their career.

HTI successfully recruited 35 women to work with existing teams on mainstream technology projects through the Take2 programme in Pune last year.

This year the programme received more than five times the number of applications as compared to 2018.

Thanks to popular demand from colleagues, the programme has been extended to Hyderabad with about 240 women attending the launch event across both cities.

Participants interacted with HTI senior leadership and got a glimpse of how HSBC is using technology to transform the way the world banks.

Participants also heard from HTI’s female leaders who candidly shared their personal success stories of coming back to full-time employment after a break, and how such a break need not be anything more than a small speed bump on one’s career path.

Balasubramanian Ganesh - Head of HSBC Technology India, said, “It is imperative for the industry to provide a conducive environment for talented women who have had to take a break from work to restart their career. This improves the diversity of our workforce and helps fill the talent gap”.

Priya Kameshwari, Head of Talent Acquisition and On boarding, said, “While we have gender balance at HSBC by sheer percentage across the Group, we recognise that we have work to do at senior leadership levels. Take2 helps build a pool of already experienced and motivated women technologists from which leaders of tomorrow can emerge”.

Participants in the programme will complete various assessments, from which a final group of successful candidates will be offered permanent employment. Those who were not successful, but show potential, will be offered internships, with the opportunity for permanent employment after further assessment.
