CashFlows’ BIN sponsorship allows IN2Retail to process card payments on behalf of its ATM customers without the requirement to join multiple card schemes.

IN2Retail deploys and operates ATMs in Ireland, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. The company works closely with a range of partners including retailers, shopping centres, and major train stations as well as airports. IN2Retail focus on ensuring that their ATMs meet business requirements from driving footfall to offering banking services and opening up new revenues via advertising.

To attract consumers, it is imperative that ATMs can accept international card schemes like Mastercard and Visa. To accept these cards requires ATM estate owners, such as IN2Retail, to become direct members of card schemes which can be complex and delay time to market, along with on-going compliance and reporting requirements. BIN sponsorship is the quick and convenient alternative to joining a card scheme directly. Rather than apply directly to a scheme, CashFlows sponsors a scheme-assigned BIN (bank identification number) that enables IN2Retail to process card payments through that scheme.

“All merchants and service providers want to ensure that they maximise sales opportunities. The reality is that not everyone is comfortable making card purchases. And this is especially a challenge as banks retreat from the ATM market. It presents an opportunity for merchants to serve both consumers and the wider community by providing physical access to cash and a wealth of financial and non-financial services. In turn, ATMs will help improve customer acquisition and loyalty as well as boost income,” said Richard Entrop, Business Partner at IN2Retail.

Entrop continued, “We needed a partner who could help us rapidly capitalise on this opportunity. CashFlows’ BIN sponsorship has accelerated our access to major card schemes, reducing time to market, while streamlining cost efficiencies. We’re confident that the CashFlows’ team’s expertise and experience will continue to be an asset as we continue to expand our operations.”

“While many expected the physical ATM to become irrelevant in the world of digital banking, quite the opposite has happened. The number of ATMs is expected to grow to four billion by 2021. ATMs, armed with a raft of rich services, are stepping into the place of branch tellers, providing access to critical services for many communities across the continent,” said Scott Lucas, Head of BIN Sponsorship at CashFlows. “As ATM providers like IN2Retail race to deliver these new service, we’ll be making every effort to ensure that they can provide cash withdrawals to consumers quickly, efficiently and securely through our BIN sponsorship service.”
