Medius builds on Elixirr’s existing capabilities by adding a team of experienced industry practitioners with diverse backgrounds across regulatory bodies, tier 1 financial institutions and innovative RegTech providers. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

In a regulatory environment that is expanding its footprint outside the traditional financial services, more and more institutions are increasingly seeking independent, hands-on and practical advice to help them navigate regulatory challenges. These include the extended reach of financial regulation into firms’ consumer credit activities and the expansion of individual accountability regimes in the UK and elsewhere. The integration of Medius will significantly enhance the value that the combined team can bring to itsclients around the world.

Elixirr has recently agreed strategic partnerships with Kaizen, the top rated regulatory assurance provider, and NEX Regulatory Reporting, the market leading trade and transaction reporting solution. The acquisition of Medius Consulting is a response to strong market demand.

Barry Lewis, Partner at Elixirr who leads their financial services business, says:
“We’re delighted to welcome Medius to Elixirr. We are all about the quality of our people - our talent bar is very high. Vaughan and the team add significant experience and expertise that enhances the value we can bring to our clients as we help them respond more effectively to the increasing challenges of achieving sustainable compliance processes. As one team, we can now offer professional advisory services with practical operational support.”

Both founder-led, Elixirr and Medius share the same laser focus on exceptional quality delivery and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. It’s this that inspires their point of differentiation in what is a very traditional (consulting) market, one that is ripe for disruption.

With a strong background in regulation and governance that spans organisations including the Financial Services Authority (FSA), UBS and Credit Suisse, Vaughan co-founded Medius in 2013. About joining Elixirr, he says:
“We’ve had a strong relationship with Elixirr since the early days of Medius and Barry and I have known each other since we worked together at Credit Suisse. I know we share the same values and passion for helping financial institutions with practical, actionable advice, and the Elixirr platform will allow us to do so much more for our clients. We’re all very excited about what we can achieve together.”

Stephen Newton, Founder and Managing Partner of Elixirr, said “I am delighted to welcome Vaughan and his team to Elixirr. The value they can add to the work we do for our clients is clear. This is a pivotal stage in Elixirr’s growth - we’re very ambitious together as we continue working towards our vision: to build the best consulting firm in the world.”

Vaughan Edwards, Founder and Director of Medius, will join Elixirr’s Partner team, taking it to15 strong. This is the second acquisition for the fast-growing consulting firm, following the 2017 acquisition of digital agency den, now Elixirr Creative.
