NAB has today announced it has launched NAB Marketplace, where businesses can download apps to their merchant terminals to develop their business and bring an innovative value-added experience to their customers.

The new NAB Marketplace Web App Store will provide a range of apps that merchants can download, such as loyalty programs and charity donation apps.

Businesses and app developers will also be able to create their own apps, and promote them through NAB Marketplace.

“This is NAB continuing to develop new, easy, and convenient ways for customers to make and accept payments,” NAB Executive General Manager of Deposit and Transaction Services, Rachel Slade, said.

NAB Marketplace is available on Ingenico Tetra smart terminals, which includes functions for Quick Payments, easy tipping, and customer feedback.

“For businesses that charge regular payment amounts, the Quick Payments function will let them pre-set an amount so they don’t have to enter it in every time. This means, for example, that when you go to the local café for a takeaway coffee, they can just press a button and it will bring up the amount straight away,” Ms Slade said.

Through NAB Marketplace, businesses will also be able to put their own branding or tailored messaging and imagery on the terminal, and it will be able to be seamlessly integrated with the business’ existing Point of Sale systems.

“We’ve developed a range of merchant payment solutions to cater for every type of business, because we recognise that businesses come in all sizes, with different needs,” Ms Slade said.

NAB is also working on the next evolution of payment acceptance, which will see consumers able to use their mobile to make payments to a business without the business needing any hardware at all. This truly mobile solution will soon be in pilot for NAB customers
