Nations Trust Bank of Sri Lanka and Daon together announced today that Nations Trust Bank launched the Mobile Banking app and FriMi, its new mobile banking, payments & lifestyle app, using Daon’s IdentityX platform capabilities for biometric authentication.

“In keeping with our commitment to providing progressive and convenient financial services, we chose to partner with Daon to provide our customers with the best user experience possible, while deploying a secure and scalable solution,” said Thilak Piyadigama, COO, Nations Trust Bank. “Users have responded favorably to our apps and their capabilities. We are happy to report that adoption rates are ahead of expectations.”

Nations Trust Bank utilizes Daon’s IdentityX soft token, finger, face and voice authentication. Multiple digital applications from the bank were enabled in parallel during implementation and launched in quick succession. IdentityX powers all of the customer authentication process flows including registration, set up of authentication methods, ongoing customer login and step-up authentication. Nations Trust Bank plans to enable biometrics across various sections of the bank, with multiple use cases.

“We are pleased to be working with Nations Trust Bank and provide world-class biometric solutions for its Mobile Banking and FriMi apps,” said Tom Grissen, CEO, Daon. “IdentityX has the ability to seamlessly surface more authentication capabilities as they mature and support the needs of Nations Trust Bank as they continue to expand its digital platform.”

FriMi is a revolutionary, fully-fledged digital bank, payments platform and lifestyle partner powered by Nations Trust Bank. Sign up is 100% online, instant and open to anyone with a smartphone, a first for Sri Lanka. All FriMi accounts earn interest at rates of up to 7% p.a. and can be topped up by cash deposits at all Nations Trust Bank Branches, CDMs and FriMi Agents or electronically via linked cards and accounts or direct digital fund transfers from any bank, including foreign remittances, and also by requesting and or receiving money from other FriMi users. It allows users to pay merchants and send & receive money while enjoying the best offers and discounts, all through one simple app. Paying merchants with FriMi is simpler than ever with contactless payments and QR codes and it can be used to pay anyone for anything, even if they do not use FriMi. The app is available on both Android and iOS and is completely free to use with no hidden fees or charges.
