UL is pleased to announce that the UL Brand Test Tool has been extended with the BankAxept Module.

This module allows to perform contact and contactless terminal testing for Norwegian BankAxept acceptance. The UL Brand Test Tool is the first test tool officially qualified by BankAxept.

BankAxept is a Norwegian domestic scheme, owned by Norwegian banks. More than 90% of Norwegian domestic transactions in store are performed with BankAxept. To meet the challenges from new technologies and market needs, BankAxept committed to develop new payment solutions in new channels for the Norwegian market. This includes support for contact and contactless cards and mobile payments. To ensure that POS terminal vendors can deliver POS terminal solutions for BankAxept contact and contactless and mobile, BankAxept appointed UL to provide a POS and ATM terminal test tool based on BankAxept’s business and technical requirements.

The new of version of the UL Brand Test Tool, which has just been released, contains a newly developed and qualified BankAxept module. This module allows acquiring banks to validate correct processing of BankAxept transactions, a required procedure before acquiring transactions based on BankAxept specifications can be processed.

When testing a terminal, the UL Brand Test Tool (BTT) determines the applicable test cases based upon the terminal’s configuration. When these test cases are executed, the UL BTT simulates the test cards that have been defined by BankAxept and automatically performs the validations specified in the BankAxept POS and ATM Interoperability and Confidence Test Guide. When testing is complete, the UL Brand Test Tool generates a test report for BankAxept approval. This way, the administrative workload for testing a terminal is reduced to its minimum.

Maxim Dyachenko, Director Products at UL’s Transaction Security division states: “We are proud to be the first one to have a qualified test tool for BankAxept acceptance. We are confident that our customers will benefit from this qualification as it will help them reduce the time to market, ease their device testing, and increase their confidence during BankAxept implementation.”

Øyvind Apelland, CEO at BankAxept states: “After a long and prosperous collaboration with UL, we are confident that the BankAxept module in the UL BTT will help terminal and ATM vendors to develop products that meet our needs and requirements.”

UL Brand Test Tool is the most complete payment terminal test tool to validate payment devices before connecting to the major payment networks. The tool supports acquirers in the test and certification processes of the major payment associations. Apart from BankAxept, it has been qualified and/or confirmed by American Express, Discover/Diners Club, Interac, JCB, MasterCard, UnionPay and Visa.
