Akana, a leading provider of API Management, API security and Microservices solutions for Digital Businesses, announced today that its Akana Platform will power the app development efforts at the upcoming external U.S. Bank Hackathon being held in San Jose, California.

By joining forces with U.S. Bank to sponsor the Aug. 27 and 28 Hackathon, Akana and U.S. Bank will externalize APIs that the developer teams will leverage alongside MasterCard’s APIs to create innovative solutions that improve productivity, financial stability and customer experiences for all small businesses.

“We are excited to be partnering with U.S. Bank on this external hackathon. We have previously partnered on several internal U.S. Bank hackathons to drive internal innovation,” said Roberto Medrano, Executive VP at Akana. “And now the U.S. Bank team is ready to extend their innovations to an external audience.”

The APIs will be set up and hosted on Akana’s platform. Developers participating at the Hackathon will be using the Platform to manage access and consumption of the APIs by their apps. Akana staff will be available during the Hackathon to coach participants in leveraging the APIs and troubleshoot any issues that arise.

“APIs are fundamental building blocks in the digital economy that allow banks to develop new solutions for customers and clients and enable us to partner seamlessly with developers and cutting-edge Fintech start-ups,” said Doug Nielson, Senior Vice President of Innovation Research and Development at U.S. Bank.
