Mercury Interactive Corporation (NASDAQ: MERQE), the global leader in business technology optimization (BTO) software today announced that Munich Re, one of the world's largest reinsurance groups, is using Mercury BTO software to create a central testing platform for a large-scale SAP solutions rollout.
Today, Munich Re has more than 50 projects involving Mercury BTO software such as Mercury TestDirector.
In collaboration with SAP, Munich Re initiated an international project, code named "GLORIA" to establish a central, global IT platform to manage their reinsurance business. Prior to this project, the group used a variety of IT systems to handle its core business. The project helps standardize processes and data across these different systems in order to maximize efficiency and transparency.
"This strategic project will help consolidate our market position and make us more competitive internationally," remarked Dr. Rainer Jansen, CIO at Munich Re.
Jansen confirmed the reliance on Mercury BTO technology, stating, "We were singularly impressed by the business technology optimization software from Mercury."
Alois Strobl, service manager corporate Information Systems at Munich Re said, "When evaluating our testing approach, we focused primarily on crafting a homogeneous IT environment. The Mercury products were thus used to create a central test solution spanning every platform and projects of all sizes, all on the basis of standardized methods and tools."
"We are very proud that Munich Re selected Mercury to help them optimize the business outcome of this very important IT initiative," said Peter Prestele, managing director central Europe at Mercury. "Mercury is committed to help our customers successfully deliver and manage their SAP applications and ensure these initiatives meet the needs of the business."
