Wirecard AG is expanding its range of mobile point of sale (mPOS) products to include an innovative payment tablet developed by AEVI International GmbH, a subsidiary of Wincor Nixdorf, the world's leading provider of IT solutions for commercial enterprises and retail banks.

As part of this collaboration, Wirecard will implement AEVI's payment terminal "Albert" and support this in the form of payment and acquiring services. The multichannel POS terminal is to be presented at the Money20/20 trade fair in Copenhagen, Denmark, which will take place between 4 April and 7 April 2016. The AEVI exhibition stand will also host the launch of a new B2B marketplace.

Albert is a multifunctional payment tablet based on the Android platform, which features an integrated card reader and receipt printer, as well as a module to encrypt touchscreen PIN entry. The device can handle all common physical and digital card payments in accordance with PCI standards. This includes Chip and PIN, Swipe and Sign as well as contactless payments using near field communication (NFC) technology. The state-of-the-art interactive terminal features Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology, 3G and Wi-Fi. Businesses in all industries, including retail, gastronomy and the hotel industry, will be able to download the pre-installed B2B apps in the new AEVI marketplace, offering them full flexibility. In addition to payment acceptance at the POS, retailers can also use the app to centralise their back office processes, run their loyalty programmes and handle multichannel stock management.

Hans Langenhuizen, Global Sales and Marketing Director at AEVI: "We look forward to our strategic partnership with Wirecard which grants us access to an international network as well as mobile technologies and applications. Albert is more than just a payment terminal. The apps in our new marketplace, which we will be presenting at the Money20/20 trade fair, are what makes the product unique. Transactions become interactions. The possibilities are endless."

Jörn Leogrande, Executive Vice President Mobile Services at Wirecard: "AEVI's multichannel POS terminal supports our objective of using the latest technologies and products in order to support our customers and partners with the digitisation of their business processes. We found the multitude of possibilities offered by the terminal to be particularly appealing. For example, we can integrate our own payment and loyalty apps in addition to further applications available via our network of partners. In this way, we have a suitable solution to meet the needs of each and every merchant and industry."
