International Bank of Azerbaijan to start accepting JCB cards

JCB International Co., Ltd. (JCBI), the international operations subsidiary of JCB Co., Ltd., has started JCB merchant acquiring operations with the International Bank of Azerbaijan (IBA).

JCB cards will be accepted at all of IBA's acceptance locations throughout the country by the end of February 2016.

JCB has more than 91 million JCB cardmembers in 20 countries and teritorries. Currently JCB cards are accepted in more than 190 countries and teritorries, at more than 29 million merchants. IBA, the largest government financial institution in Azerbaijan, has an extensive network of more than 11,000 POS terminals and over 730 ATMs across the country. With this launch, JCB cards will be accepted at major hotels and retailors in Azerbaijan benefiting JCB cardmembers visiting the region.

Kimihisa Imada, Deputy President of JCBI, stated, "It's honored to announce the launch of JCB Cards acquiring business in Azerbaijan, the country is located at the center of Western Asia and Eastern Europe, the region where JCB business expansion has been very rapid in the past few years. I am confident that partnership with IBA will allow JCB to bring more convenience and benefits to JCB cardmembers and will contribute to the growth and development of the payments industry in Azerbaijan."
