Wolters Kluwer Financial Services today announced enhancements to NILS INsource, an online research repository tailored to compliance, government, legal and regulatory affairs professionals working in the insurance industry.

The latest version of NILS INsource includes enactment predictions for legislative bills introduced at the federal and state level, and treatment analysis for judicial decisions. Using data modeling and predictive analytics, NILS INsource can help forecast whether newly introduced federal and state legislation has a relatively low, medium, or high chance of enactment.

NILS INsource provides compliance professionals in the insurance industry with the ability to easily look up indexed state statutes, regulations and advisory publications for answering compliance questions quickly. More than 4,000 insurance professionals use NILS INsource to support their compliance programs.

Two add-on modules are available with NILS INsource: the Market Conduct Exam and the Case Law modules. The Market Conduct Exam module helps life and health insurers understand compliance challenges in the marketplace by providing users with regulatory exam criticisms indexed to the authoritative statutes, regulations and guidance documents. Additionally, the full text of the market conduct exams and enforcement actions are included, which further assist insurers in proactively managing compliance.

The NILS INsource Case Law module’s graphic user interface has also been enhanced with case law “treatment” information to help compliance professionals identify at a glance whether past court opinions are still valid. The Case Law module provides NILS INsource customers the ability to conduct treatment analysis to identify past judicial decisions from trial courts, appellate courts and state supreme courts across all 50 states, as well as with U.S. federal courts and the U.S. Supreme Court quickly and easily. The module also features an integrated search tool and displays all treatment information upfront in the search results.

“The treatment information and analytic capabilities we’ve added to NILS INsource demonstrate our continued commitment to adding value to our products and services for our customers,” said Chuck Ross, general manager of Insurance and Investment Compliance at Wolters Kluwer Financial Services.”
