Australia’s independent and most advanced stockbroker, OpenMarkets, has joined the Iress network, as part of its continued commitment to provide choice of trading front-ends for clients.

This development will now allow clients of OpenMarkets to place trades via IRESS’ two flagship trading platforms and access a range of market data and multi-market order management services, while retaining the full benefits of OpenMarkets’ broking services.

These platforms are:

  • IRESS Professional – a leading global market information and trading platform used by brokers, fund managers and advisers across Australia and NZ and in other global markets
  • IRESS Trader – a leading web based information and trading platform.

OpenMarkets, currently ranked in Australia’s top 12 brokers by trading volume, sees the addition of IRESS alongside its other trading platforms as part of its continued mission to provide greater choice and flexibility to both its retail and wholesale trading clients.

OpenMarkets CEO Rick Klink said, “Our mission is to provide high-quality low-cost trading access to the Australian capital markets in the most flexible way. This includes expanding the range of trading front-ends for clients to trade through.”

“One of the benefits of being an independent technology broker is that we are free to integrate our broking services with a broad range of third-party software providers and tools.”

“We had received significant demand from traders and advisers coming on board, who wanted to benefit from OpenMarkets’ services but continue to use IRESS.”

“This development forms part of our ongoing strategy to provide the broadest trading connectivity capabilities in the industry. Being a leading provider, connection with IRESS was always on the agenda, and we are really pleased to work together to give our mutual clients the best possible service.”

IRESS Managing Director of Financial Markets for Australia and New Zealand, Kirsty Gross, said IRESS was delighted to be supporting OpenMarkets and its clients.

“We look forward to working with OpenMarkets to provide them with quality, reliable solutions in a fast-changing environment and to support them as they continue to grow their business,” she said.

Behind the trading interfaces, IRESS will also provide OpenMarkets with a number of solutions including its order management system, and connectivity to ASX and Chi-X through IRESS’ Best Market Router. OpenMarkets’ own Smart Order Router is on track for December 2015 launch.
