Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc., a global technology and front-end solutions provider, announced today that Fiserv, Inc. (FISV), a leading global provider of financial services technology solutions, has signed an agreement that will allow them to integrate Fujitsu’s PalmSecure biometric technology into the DNA account processing platform from Fiserv.
PalmSecure technology enables positive identification of accountholders across multiple delivery channels. The Fiserv integration will initially facilitate the authentication of accountholders in the branch to provide positive identity verification for activities such as withdrawing funds or accessing a safety deposit box.
“The security and integrity of customer financial transactions are paramount for our bank and credit union clients,” said Steve Cameron, Group President, Open Solutions Division, Fiserv. “Integrating Fujitsu’s PalmSecure biometrics technology with the DNA account processing platform gives our clients an innovative choice for accountholder verification that can reduce risk and advance their branch-of-the-future strategies.”
“We are extremely excited to be partnering with a company like Fiserv, which provides account processing services to more than one-third of U.S. financial institutions. We’re particularly gratified that they have selected Fujitsu’s PalmSecure technology as an option to secure the integrity of their DNA clients’ transactions,” according to Michi Sugawara, President and CEO, Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc. “We look forward to working with Fiserv to identify additional areas where we can assist them in growing their business.”
PalmSecure technology relies on Fujitsu’s award-winning PalmSecure biometric technology. The Fujitsu PalmSecure biometric palm vein sensors use a near-infrared light to capture a user’s palm vein pattern, generating a unique biometric template that is matched against the palm vein patterns of pre-registered users. Unlike other readers, the PalmSecure device does not come into contact with the skin, making it extremely hygienic, non-intrusive and unrestricted by external factors such as skin types and conditions. Registration for PalmSecure technology users takes less than one minute and authentication takes less than one second.
Financial institutions need agility and flexibility to meet the needs of consumers and businesses in today’s real-time world. Built on modern, standards-based languages and an open, highly scalable architecture, DNA from Fiserv enables banks and credit unions to customize functionality to meet their unique business needs, while improving efficiency and enhancing service by providing a 360-degree, person-centered view of all retail and business relationships.
Attendees of the 2015 DNA™ Education and Technology Conference hosted by Fiserv, July 27-29, 2015, will be able to see a hands-on demonstration of how Fujitsu’s PalmSecure can secure a transaction.
