The solution integrates CardInk for data preparation and an Automation Utility, also provided by Cryptomathic, for interfacing with S2M’s card management system and controlling automatic processing of incoming data files. While both Cryptomathic systems can interface with the existing platform for personalisation within the current solution, CardInk is hardware vendor agnostic, providing S2M with technical and strategic flexibility to work with any third party vendors in the future. CardInk delivers the versatility to issue virtually any type of payment application for cards and mobile as well as full compliance to PCI-DSS standards.

“S2M was already producing cards before migration, so continuity of service was crucial throughout this project,” comments Amru Kotb, Senior Vice President, Middle East and Africa at Cryptomathic. “System down time was not an option. As we weren’t able to create and re-certify cryptographic keys, we delivered a proprietary tool that enabled the secure transfer of all cryptographic material from the old system to the new one. This resulted in a new platform which was ready to go straight into production. We were also able to offer S2M significant cost savings on the solution, as CardInk could reuse parts of the existing infrastructure, including the hardware security modules.

“From the outset, the key requirements of this brief were to provide S2M with a flexible, fully compliant card issuance solution based on the most advanced technology available. We are very happy to have delivered a successful solution in a very short five month development period. We look forward to continuing our partnership with S2M in the future.”

“While the process of migrating to a new, more advanced card issuance platform presented many strategic advantages, it also brought a number of technical challenges that had to be overcome,” comments Abdelaziz Daddane, Managing Director of S2M. “Cryptomathic was absolutely the right partner for us; the team integrated well with our company across all aspects of the project and was particularly adept at overcoming obstacles as they arose along the way.”
