Macquarie Securities, the institutional equities arm of Macquarie Group, has selected SunGard’s Fox River Execution electronic trading software and infrastructure for use in its trading operations in the US.

By integrating Fox River with its existing global execution platform and IT environment, Macquarie is hoping to improve efficiency and offer its global institutional investors more capabilities. SunGard will provide the dedicated trading infrastructure and software for the firm from now on.

Commenting on the rationale behind the contract award, Damian Hoult, global head of execution services at Macquarie, said: “Integrating SunGard’s Fox River products will help advance our clients’ trading capabilities through a comprehensive array of highly regarded localised products and dedicated product management staff.”

He added that an “enhanced trading experience” and “superior execution outcomes,” should result.

Bob Santella, President of SunGard’s global trading business, said: “SunGard is pleased to be involved in the expansion of Macquarie’s global execution offering in the US. Our industry-leading infrastructure and software provides a dedicated trading environment, giving Macquarie’s clients the freedom to adapt and tailor their strategies. We look forward to developing our relationship with Macquarie.”
