Everlink has created a mobile application (library / API) for credit union and bank clients to integrate with their mobile banking application, ensuring Lock’N’Block™ will have a consistent look and feel. More importantly, with the application embedded in the credit union or bank’s mobile banking application, the process for the cardholder to load the application on their phone is very straight-forward and convenient as they need only download the latest version of the FI’s mobile banking application.

This new Mobile Fraud Management solution is now market ready for client integrations! The Lock’N’Block™ application has been successfully used on iPhones and Samsung Android phones to “Lock” and “Block” unauthorized, or unwanted, use of debit cards - as well as Everlink’s DebitWear™ contactless debit wristband!

How easy is it to use? The cardholder simply logs into their existing mobile banking app and clicks on the Lock’N’Block™ icon. The screen will then display a simple page that shows an image of the card they have “Registered” and a toggle that will allow the cardholder to “Lock” or “Unlock” their debit card. If the cardholder has multiple cards, they will each be displayed with their unique status. When the card is “Locked”, all transactions will be “Blocked” or declined.

“Everlink has brought to market a very straight-forward and convenient solution that allows the cardholder to protect themselves from fraud by “Locking” their Interac debit card from their mobile phone,” says Mark Ripplinger, President & CEO at Everlink. “And, depending on the capabilities of the financial institution’s mobile banking application, an SMS alert could be sent to their cardholder any time a transaction is “Blocked” while the card is in a “Locked” state!”

The user experience is clear and intuitive. In order to setup Lock’N’Block™, the cardholder must log into their mobile banking application and add their Interac debit card to the application. By entering the mobile banking application, the cardholder has authenticated themselves to the FI, who is then in a position to verify the card number and send a confirmation to Everlink that the card number and cell phone number are legitimate. Everlink then links the debit card to the cardholder’s cell phone using a secure tokenization process.

It should be noted that the card is not being locked and unlocked by way of a Fraud status change as this could potentially interfere with Fraud Management system actions. Everlink has developed a unique means of locking the card at the processor / switch level so that it cannot be used until the cardholder wants it be available for use!
