This new service provided by UL includes Level 2 contactless kernel testing against MasterCard PayPass Mchip V3.0 and additionally covers performance, combination and integration terminal testing. Payment acceptance devices manufacturers will now be able to test the functionality and characteristics of their terminal’s application. Additionally, they can verify that a transaction is correctly performed within specified transaction times, across several selected positions inside the operating volume and using a comprehensive pool of different cards and mobile devices.

Erwin Jansen, Service Line Manager Test Centers at UL’s Transaction Security Division, commented: “We are delighted to become a trusted MasterCard reference partner and expand our terminal testing services offering with the support of such an important payment scheme. With this addition of this service, UL is now able to offer full coverage of EMVCo, Visa and MasterCard Terminal Type Approvals, allowing our customers to use a single lab facility for getting their terminals certified for these payment schemes.”

Erwin Jansen further added: “This accreditation has been achieved with perfect timing as MasterCard has recently announced that, from April 1st of 2015, any Contactless Reader newly submitted for MasterCard approval must be compliant with the PayPass v3.0 specification.”

UL is striving to offer certification services for all major payment brands, including Discover and JCB.
