myPINpad, the first business set to solve the on-going challenges with consumer authentication by bridging the universally accepted Cardholder PIN with the advanced security of multiple Identity Authenticators, has joined the Fast Identity Online (FIDO) Alliance.

With members such as MasterCard, Google, Nok Nok Labs and Bank of America, myPINpad joins a group dedicated to a future not reliant on passwords alone.

FIDO, an international non-profit organisation founded in 2012, has grown rapidly with its supporters wishing to address the “lack of interoperability among strong authentication devices as well as the problems users face with creating and remembering multiple usernames and passwords.” FIDO and myPINpad seek to solve one of the greatest challenges of modern computing – secure mobile authentication.

Philip King, CEO of myPINpad said: “our technology was created to solve the financial industry’s on-going authentication issues. As technological developments begin to out-pace industry and security regulation, the importance of creating solutions that guarantee the authenticity of end-users grows. myPINpad has designed a simple but effective authentication platform, and our solutions make us a perfect fit for FIDO membership. We look forward to working with the organisation and its members to enable true online security.”

“We are excited to welcome our newest associate member myPINpad.” said Dustin Ingalls, FIDO Alliance president. “The FIDO vision of universal strong authentication promises better security, enhanced privacy, more commerce and expansion of services throughout digital industries. myPINpad’s addition to our Alliance supports our industry goal to make user authentication easier and safer for all parties.”
