Digital Wallets are POS systems that store a shopper's credit cards, reward cards, coupons and loyalty discounts for access and use during an electronic transaction performed at a retail store. The Biyo system uses Fujitsu PalmSecure® biometric technology to positively identify and authenticate retail customers and connect them to their stored information as part of the payment authorization process.

"Our customers have been very pleased with the performance of the Fujitsu PalmSecure biometrics technology at point of sale. It has proven to provide accurate, timely and reliable authentication in some of the harshest retail environments imaginable," says Aimann Rasheed, co-founder and CEO, Biyo. "Fujitsu's willingness to stand behind our solution in the Retail digital wallet space gives prospective clients the confidence and impetus to move forward with implementing a more secure payment scheme for their businesses."

PalmSecure technology relies on award-winning Fujitsu palm vein biometric technology. The Fujitsu PalmSecure biometric palm vein sensors use a near-infrared light to capture a user's palm vein pattern, generating a unique biometric template that is matched against the palm vein patterns of pre-registered users. Unlike other readers, the PalmSecure device does not come into contact with the skin, making it extremely hygienic, non-intrusive and unrestricted by external factors such as skin types and conditions. Registration for PalmSecure users takes less than one minute and authentication takes less than one second.

"As a key service provider of Retail solutions for more than 35 years, Fujitsu is delighted to grow our current relationship with Biyo. With Biyo's demonstrated track record of success and market leadership in the digital wallet space, this is a logical, strategic step forward for Fujitsu to expand the application of its PalmSecure offering," said Randy Fox, vice president, currency handling and identification product solutions, Fujitsu Frontech North America, Inc. "This is precisely the kind of application where PalmSecure excels because of its ease of enrollment and rapid and accurate verification at point of sale."

The Fujitsu family of biometric solutions, including PalmSecure® sensors, PalmSecure for SSO (single sign-on) and the PalmEntry™ Physical Access Control system, all utilize the award-winning technology. The palm vein device only recognizes the palm pattern if blood is actively flowing within the individual's veins, so forgery is virtually impossible. This advanced, vascular pattern recognition technology not only provides highly reliable authentication with low false-accept and reject rates, but also allows for fast and easy enrollment.
