ING-DiBa installs NCR ATM security software

NCR, the global leader in consumer transactions technologies, announced today that ING-DiBa, Germany’s third largest private consumer bank with over eight million customers, has installed NCR Solidcore Suite for APTRA security software.

Each of ING’s 1,300 ATMs has been equipped with this comprehensive protection that prohibits the introduction of unauthorized code on ATMs and protects them from insider attacks.

Attacks on ATMs are on the rise worldwide, costing banks, governments and consumers billions of Euros per year. Additionally, these attacks damage a financial institution’s reputation and shorten the lifespan of ATMs.

NCR Solidcore Suite for APTRA proactively allows only authorized code to run, rather than reacting to known attacks as they arise. Specifically, Solidcore Suite for APTRA automatically creates and updates the inventory of authorized code and protects the system’s memory so that this code cannot be modified, deleted or hijacked – the process in which malicious code replaces authorised code with itself.

“NCR Solidcore for APTRA delivers standardized and comprehensive protection for our entire self-service environment,” said Jörg Johannsen, team leader Cash Handling at ING-DiBa. “The software was easy to integrate into our system architecture and operating schedule, and it is scalable and available for all of our multivendor self-service systems.”

“Solidcore for APTRA is one of the most comprehensive security solutions available in the banking market,” said Harald Heinz, Area Sales Leader Finance at NCR and responsible for the DACH region. “It enables our clients to plan and implement forward-thinking strategies whilst ensuring high safety levels for the consumer.”

Solidcore for APTRA is part of the NCR Secure® portfolio, NCR’s holistic approach to security for self-service solutions.
