Acumen Solutions, a nationally recognized pioneer in implementing cloud-based technology, has partnered with Navy Federal Credit Union to help deliver mobile banking applications for the Apple iOS and Android platforms, as well as their mobile website.

Since the initial release of these apps on iPad, iPhone, Android and Kindle Fire devices, Navy Federal has sustained application ratings above four stars on iTunes and Google Play. Customers rate mobile apps based on user interface, features and overall user experience.

In 2013, Navy Federal released their highly anticipated application for iPad, which goes beyond traditional mobile banking. With an intuitive user interface, social media integration, spending charts and graphs, and core mobile banking features, the application was ranked among the "Best New Apps" in the finance category of the App Store℠ within the first week of its launch. Recently Navy Federal added the capability to apply for a credit card from the app and a wizard to help members select a credit card that best suits their needs.

"Navy Federal's leadership and vision in mobile banking combined with Acumen Solutions' expertise in mobile solutions that drive business objectives has resulted in tremendous success with the roll out of the application across a number of devices," explained Jim Herzog, managing director at Acumen Solutions. "These high ratings catapult the credit union into an elite group of financial institutions that offer exceptional quality mobile applications to their members. We remain committed to supporting Navy Federal in every way we can."

Acumen Solutions supports Navy Federal by delivering:

  • Comprehensive Quality Assurance support for each of the mobile platforms;
  • Functional, integration, and regression testing of web services that support the applications;
  • Java development of REST, or Representational State Transfer, and SOAP web services supporting mobile applications on iOS and Android platforms;
  • Production support and issue remediation on the service tier, applications and SMS mobile banking platforms;
  • Assistance with Android development efforts;
  • And End-to-end software development lifecycle support.

Over 1 million members rely on Navy Federal's mobile banking apps -- a figure that continues to climb. According to Forrester Research, "almost one-third of online bankers currently conduct banking activities through their mobile handsets, and this population is poised to more than double by 2017."

The apps contain features such as mobile deposits, bill pay, transfers, account details, pending deposits, branch locations and more. To date, mobile deposits remains Navy Federal's most popular feature with almost 6 million unique deposits approved.
