The agreement will allow mopay to connect directly to Telekom's international payment hub, Service Delivery Platform (SDP). Through this direct access, 14 markets and 142 million mobile customers will enjoy the frictionless mopay payment experience powered and connected by one of Europe's largest carrier groups.

The complementary capabilities of mopay and Deutsche Telekom provide the best possible user experience for their respective customers. While mopay enables digital merchants to integrate the mopay platform as a carrier billing option into their checkout process, Deutsche Telekom provides the backend billing capabilities. In combining the services of the two partners, the European Deutsche Telekom user base can enjoy frictionless payments of digital goods and services through mopay's award-winning front end.

Carrier billing overall is tremendously successful and now represents a 15% to 20% share of revenue for digital goods, such as in-game items, music and software downloads. Freedom from registration and global availability have fostered user acceptance and adoption, resulting in high conversion rates worldwide. Juniper Research predicts that the global revenue from mobile content purchased via carrier billing will increase three-fold to more than $13 billion in 2017.

"The joint solution from mopay and Deutsche Telekom represents a mutual commitment to further stimulate market growth and work hand-in-hand to extend the benefits of mobile payments to more consumers and digital goods merchants," said Ingo Lippert, CEO of mopay. "Granting mopay direct access to the Deutsche Telekom global billing infrastrucure reflects mopay's trusted status, and it is the latest in a series of high-caliber agreements with leading global carrier groups such as Telefonica, Telenor, and Singtel."
