Royal Liver Assurance selects Candle for IBM WebSphere implementation

Candle Corporation, a leading enterprise infrastructure management provider, today announced that Royal Liver Assurance has selected Candle's PathWAI solutions to support the development, implementation and management of its IBM WebSphere application infrastructure using Linux.

Candle's PathWAI solutions enable organisations to accelerate application infrastructure development and deployment, ensure consistent performance and enhance management control.

Candle's work with Royal Liver Assurance aims to provide performance management that supports the enterprises needs at every phase of the application infrastructure development life cycle. When fully implemented, Candle's PathWAI solutions will enhance the development team's application performance and tuning capabilities, which will reduce the need for costly revisions and refinement during the application testing and deployment stages. Once a solution is deployed, PathWAI can provide a high-level view of the entire infrastructure's performance in real time.

Gartner Inc. underscores the business importance of application and infrastructure tuning and testing. "For every application development phase in which a defect is left beyond the original point of detection, it becomes 80 to 1,000 times more expensive to remove," said Cameron Haight, research director, Gartner Inc.

"Royal Liver Assurance is re-engineering its IT infrastructure by incorporating Linux and WebSphere to achieve new levels of e-business flexibility and performance," said Nick Edwards, technical services manager, Royal Liver Assurance. "When fully implemented, Candle's PathWAI solutions will play a critical role in helping Royal Liver Assurance obtain a clear picture of the performance and availability of its WebSphere applications during development and in full deployment. Candle provides an attractive breadth of solutions which will play an important role in migrating our critical business processes seamlessly to our new WebSphere environment."

"Many enterprise organisations are deriving maximum value from their WebSphere investments by using PathWAI solutions to plan, tune and monitor each phase of their WebSphere engagements," said Paul Hitchcox, account manager, Candle Corporation. "Candle provides the services and performance monitoring solutions that enable organisations to capitalise on the cost advantages of Linux while obtaining the performance assurances of WebSphere. Solutions such as PathWAI that assist infrastructure planning, development, testing and monitoring are integral to the success of migrating legacy systems."
