AnywhereCommerce, a global payments technology provider, announced today that the company's 'Walker' (Walker-ES01) mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) device has been approved for use with Visa cards by the Visa Ready Program.

Through this designation, merchant services providers can confidently use the Walker appliance to the satisfaction of the Visa Ready program, which identifies technologies suited to handle the growing global demand for mobile commerce technology and have been recognized by Visa as appropriate for use in its network.

The Walker appliance supports both EMV Chip-and-Signature as well as magnetic stripe payment acceptance technologies. The device is approved for EMV L1 and L2, and utilizes AnywhereCommerce's patented audio-jack-attachable technology that transforms smartphones and other mobile devices into highly secure, fully functioning mPOS solutions. Walker is compatible with iOS, Android, and Windows Phone 8 operating systems.

"We continue to invest heavily in research and development to achieve exactly these types of product milestones," said Mitchell Cobrin, founder and chief executive officer of AnywhereCommerce. "To have our technology tested, approved and ultimately aligned with a blue chip company like Visa, validates our commitment to develop technologies that are relevant and accessible. The initial shipments that have resulted from this program have far exceeded our expectations. We look forward to continuing our relationship with the Visa Ready Program on a global scale."

Walker is just one of several AnywhereCommerce appliances that enable smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices to operate as a secure mobile point-of-sale terminal. The company's versatile lineup consists of flexible appliances, software applications and gateway solutions that support a variety of card-based payment presentation methods, including magnetic stripe debit, credit, and gift card payments as well as EMV chip-card transactions. Earlier this year, AnywhereCommerce released their mobile chip and PIN 'Nomad 1.0', which was one of the first devices approved in the Visa Ready Program.

Walker will be shown at Money2020 Oct 6-10 in Las Vegas by appointment only. Interested parties should contact david.gott@anywherecommerce.com to schedule a meeting.

Additionally, the Walker device, as well as other AnywhereCommerce mPOS solutions, will be on display at the CARTES Secure Connexions Event 2013, November 19-21 in Paris, France. AnywhereCommerce will be located at booth 4N 027 throughout the exhibition.
