This upgrade will ensure the lowest possible latency for European exchange clients of Options' PIPE® Velocity, the IaaS provider's ultra-low latency market data, connectivity and application hosting service.

The deployment with Arista Networks, the specialised provider of low latency switching and cloud-based networking solutions for large data centres and financial trading environments, sees Options use Arista's new 7150 Series switch series. The 7150S offers up to 64 wire-speed L2/3 10GbE ports or 16 40GbE ports with multicast, allowing Options to enhance latency performance for clients consuming LSE market data at other Options' data centres combined with the use of new dark fibre routes.

Options' PIPE® Velocity is one of three IaaS offerings provided via the Options Private Financial Cloud platform, and is a complete high frequency trading (HFT) technology solution, providing ultra-low latency market data, high throughput market connectivity and vendor neutral application hosting as a single, fully managed service for all major markets across North America, Europe and Asia.

Options CEO, Nigel Kneafsey said, "We are always striving to maintain an optimized trading environment for our clients who require the lowest point-to-point network latency and highest throughput capacity possible to successfully drive their trading strategies. Upgrading connectivity in each of these markets has been a major focus for Options through the first half of 2013 and we're pleased to deliver on this effort.

"We are also delighted to have deployed Arista Networks' innovative switching technology on the Options PIPE platform which will help ensure we continue to deliver the best technology environment that meets our HFT clients' ultra-low latency requirements. Options continuously looks to identify and minimize all possible platform latency for our clients and the use of Arista's latest switching technology is further evidence of these efforts."
