Diners Club International, Ltd., owned by Discover Financial Services (NYSE: DFS) and Worldline, Atos subsidiary for e-payment services, today announced a new relationship that will allow the acceptance of Discover and Diners Club cards by merchants using Worldline electronic payment services in Belgium.

"This is an important agreement for Discover as it expands our acceptance in the heart of Europe and provides merchants throughout Belgium and a number of other countries the ability to accept payments from Discover, Diners Club International and our Discover Network partners," said Gerry Wagner, VP of global acceptance for Discover Financial Services. "Increasing Discover's acceptance overseas remains a top priority for us, one that we're continuing to execute on daily basis."

Worldline will add acceptance of Discover Network and Diners Club International's cards - which are already accepted in more than 185 countries worldwide - as a standard to its payment processing services portfolio, starting in 2014.

Willy Walraeve, CEO at Worldline in the Benelux: "We want to give merchants the best service possible. This means a large range of services, including our state of the art payment terminals and a wide offer in payment card acceptance. Enlarging payment acceptance with Discover and Diners Club cards is a welcome addition in today's market where card payments are increasing. Worldline is delighted with this strategic agreement."
