Visa Europe and WorldPay today announced that from late 2013*, customers of Dixons Retail will be able to make purchases on the Currys and PC World websites using the V.me by Visa digital wallet.
Dixons Retail plc is one of Europe's leading specialist electrical retailing groups. Its Currys and PC World brands are the largest specialist electrical retailing and services operators in the UK & Ireland.
V.me by Visa, the innovative new wallet service developed by Visa Europe, will be offered to consumers by banks across Europe. The service will be available in the UK and Spain from the end of 2013, with other markets to follow.
Duncan Olby, Senior Vice President, Visa Europe said: "The retail community is incredibly important to us and we've designed V.me by Visa to improve sales for retailers. V.me by Visa is fully optimised for mobile e-commerce, easy to use and gives shoppers confidence and peace of mind when they pay online because we shield their card details. We're delighted to have Dixons Retail on board to help us improve the online shopping experience for customers in the UK."
Ron Kalifa, Deputy Chairman, WorldPay comments: "Consumers expect retailers to provide secure and seamless checkout experiences online. The introduction of V.me by Visa to Dixons Retail payment portfolio is indicative of consumers' increasing familiarity with digital wallets to pay for goods and services online. Payment acceptance through V.me by Visa enables Dixons Retail to provide its customers with their preferred method of payment and, most importantly, gives the consumer additional confidence that the transaction is completed in a secure environment with a known and trusted brand. This results in simpler, faster and better usability for customers making online transactions."
The fast and simple V.me by Visa payment experience allows consumers to complete online transactions through the internet browser on a PC, laptop, tablet, or smartphone in a simple and easy manner. Full customer card details are not passed on to the retailer, helping encourage consumers to feel safe when shopping online. In addition to the improved customer journey, the streamlined online checkout experience is also designed to reduce basket abandonment and, in turn, increase sales conversions for merchants.
Payments processor WorldPay is a key development partner in the delivery of the V.me by Visa proposition in the UK.
