Visa signs UK retailer Dixons to digital wallet

Visa Europe and WorldPay today announced that from late 2013*, customers of Dixons Retail will be able to make purchases on the Currys and PC World websites using the by Visa digital wallet.

Dixons Retail plc is one of Europe's leading specialist electrical retailing groups. Its Currys and PC World brands are the largest specialist electrical retailing and services operators in the UK & Ireland. by Visa, the innovative new wallet service developed by Visa Europe, will be offered to consumers by banks across Europe. The service will be available in the UK and Spain from the end of 2013, with other markets to follow.

The fast and simple by Visa payment experience allows consumers to complete online transactions through the internet browser on a PC, laptop, tablet, or smartphone in a simple and easy manner. Full customer card details are not passed on to the retailer, helping encourage consumers to feel safe when shopping online. In addition to the improved customer journey, the streamlined online checkout experience is also designed to reduce basket abandonment and, in turn, increase sales conversions for merchants.

Payments processor WorldPay is a key development partner in the delivery of the by Visa proposition in the UK.
