Wirecard and payleven form mobile payments alliance

Munich-based Wirecard AG and payleven GmbH, based in Berlin and London, have agreed a strategic alliance for new mobile payments technologies.

payleven's chip and PIN-card readers are primarily geared to SMEs. The strategic alliance is based on the international expansion of innovative point of sale payment solutions (M-POS).

Wirecard AG is one of the world's leading independent providers of outsourcing and white label solutions for electronic payment transactions, and will contribute its core competences to the alliance. This expertise includes both acquiring and also central process stages for mobile card reader technology: from risk and fraud management and processing services as well as certifications and licenses through to hardware development.

Jörn Leogrande, VP for Mobile Services at Wirecard AG, noted: "payleven is a fast-growing company for mobile card acceptance, and is pursuing ambitious international targets. We are pleased to be able to contribute our expertise to this success story."

The strategic alliance with Wirecard AG will bundle enormous competence with strong innovational prowess, and will enable us to meet the needs of both the market and our customers with even better products."

The strategic alliance between payleven and Wirecard spans various strategic product issues, independent of the respective marketing strategy. payleven will continue to operate in the SME segment. Wirecard's white label program for mobile card readers is geared to sales partners who can design the product with their own look and feel.
