SpareBank 1 orders 275,000 more Todos smart card readers

Todos Data System AB (Todos) has received a new order for an additional 275 000 smart card readers from the Norwegian bank alliance SpareBank 1 Gruppen AS (consisting of 19 banks).

Todos made the first delivery of its remote authentication solution Todos eCode for 150 000 of SpareBank 1's private bank customers in September 2004. With the new order, a total of 425 000 of SpareBank 1's customers will be a holder of a Todos eCode Reader.

The security solution Todos eCode includes a security application for smart cards (Todos eCode Security Application), portable smart card readers (Todos eCode Reader), and a verification server (Todos eCode Central System). The customers generate One Time Passwords (OTP) with their bank cards (where the security application has been loaded at personalization) and the Todos eCode Reader. The One Time Password together with a static password achieves a two-factor authentication towards the customer’s private certificate, stored in a central BankID server.
