Service design consultancy Fjord, today unveils its work with Turkish bank Garanti, known as a key innovator within the financial sector, to design a completely new banking service across the iPhone, iPad, and Android to help customers better manage their finances.

In a market known for its reliance on cash, the launch of the app plays a key part in Garanti's goal to see Turkey transition to a "cashless utopia" by 2023. Driven by the rise of an upwardly mobile generation, the app is well placed to support the take-up of mobile banking services.

In the first week of launch Garanti saw a 25 per cent increase in new mobile banking customers. The bank has also raised its mobile financial services market share to 39* per cent in terms of the number of customers and 41* per cent in terms of financial transactions.

"We pride ourselves on our ability to innovate and bring new ideas and services to market that reflect Turkey's dynamic banking culture while embracing the opportunities presented by mobile. Fjord's creative ideas and launch expertise enabled us to take a very important step forward with our mobile banking offering. We knew that existing users would be very careful in their judgment of the new services, and Fjord rose to the challenge exceptionally well. " said Senior Vice President of Garanti Bank Delivery Channels, Deniz Güven.

Iñaki Amate, managing director of Fjord Istanbul adds, "Mobile technology is transforming the Turkish market and by employing a mobile-first approach that puts the user at the heart of design, we have been able to help Garanti unlock the true potential of mobile banking. The results speak volumes and is testament to not only the appetite for services like this but the potential they have to transform and empower the people of Turkey to better manage their finances on the go."

Available now the Garanti Personal Finance App uses colourful infographics and data charts to help people monitor their accounts history, transfer funds, pay third parties and learn about the best financial deals on the move. The experience is seamless across a variety of devices, making it simple and easy to use.
