The international derivatives market Eurex and Osaka Securities Exchange (OSE) announced on Monday that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), in which the two exchanges agreed to explore means of co-operation in order to extend the global reach of both exchanges.

Under the terms of the MoU, Eurex and OSE have agreed to share information with a view to furthering the distribution of financial derivatives in Asia and Europe.

"With the Memorandum of Understanding we formalize our long-standing relationship with the OSE. The MoU will be an important step towards bringing European and Asian market participants closer together and help Eurex to extend its reach into the fast growing Asian market," said Rudolf Ferscha, CEO of Eurex. "By working together, both exchanges can create opportunities that will be beneficial to our customers worldwide."

"This next phase of closer cooperation between Eurex and OSE now starts following the close communication between the two exchanges over the past years," said Michio Yoneda, President and CEO of OSE. "I hope this will present a good picture of the future of our industry with enlarged product lines, increased number of participants and improved accessibility between Europe and Asia."
