Teradata (TDC) today announced that Alior Bank, named Poland's best retail bank by Newsweek Magazine, has selected the Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance to drive additional business growth.

The appliance will be the foundation for an enhanced customer relationship management initiative, expanded business reporting capability, and support the bank's new Alior Sync, the first truly-virtual bank in Poland.

The dramatic growth of data from Alior Sync and social media has fuelled the need to collect and analyse larger volumes and new types of data. The Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance provides ample data storage and supports analytic applications, including big data analytics. It is a constantly growing and developing business intelligence environment for analytics, which offers faster and better insight.

"Teradata provides a solid data warehouse platform that can grow in size and sophistication as the bank grows," said Bogdan Miedzik, director, Data and Reporting, Alior Bank. "In addition to a significant performance improvement, the new Teradata Appliance offers the ability to integrate data from across the organization, and support a range of financial services analytic applications that extract intelligence from great volumes of data. We are incorporating the valuable intelligence into all our decision making to support our growth initiatives."

The Teradata appliance provides support for Alior Sync, an interactive online platform designed to help consumers determine the most effective ways to save and invest their money and provide day-to-day account management. For the bank, Alior Sync offers a virtual channel for two-way communication, which didn't exist before. Alior Sync provides the bank with a global view of customer activities, products sales and banking operations. With the intelligence, the bank can better target existing, as well as a new set of diverse consumers with needed financial products and solutions.

"Alior Bank effectively uses the intelligence from data analytics to make more competitive business decisions," said Marek Rudnicki, managing director, Teradata Poland. "The Teradata Data Warehouse Appliance is a proven powerhrhouse that provides four times the performance and twice as much data storage capacity, and it is a green analytic engine for a wide variety of demanding business intelligence tasks."
