The United States Patent and Trademark Office has allowed application 12/548,849, entitled Intelligent Directory Server Routing. This patent application protects a broad range of services including dynamically ranking and routing requests from redundant servicers based on volume, latency, functionality and other criteria.

"Networks, payment brands, gateways, processors and many other suppliers in the payment and information based industries would benefit from the technology taught in the application. There are plenty of opportunities for organizations that handle or process transactions to increase the efficiency, reliability, security and scalability of their service with our intelligent server routing know-how and intellectual property. This is especially applicable for cloud-based and/or centralized services," said Phil Romano, Cardinal's Vice President of Operations.
"We have worked with Cardinal for more than a decade to create, strengthen, and grow their globally protective intellectual property (IP) portfolio. From inception they had the foresight to invest in their technology and IP. We are comfortable that Cardinal's portfolio is broad, comprehensive and expanding," said Patrick R. Roche of Fay Sharpe LLP, a nationally prominent IP law firm. "These awards continue to show the intellectual property breadth Cardinal has in addressing the needs of the marketplace."

"We are excited because this adds to our Cardinal SafeCloud capabilities," said Mike Keresman, Chief Executive Officer of Cardinal. "We believe that processors, gateways, payment brands, and networks that rely on multiple servers to provide their services would find this property of particular use. Our IP and established capabilities combine to provide the broadest range of services and help 'future proof' our Customers' needs.

Cardinal's intellectual property portfolio includes 29 issued patents and more than 60 pending patent applications.
