Yekaterinburg, Russia-based NEYVA BANK has launched a new card product - virtual prepaid Visa cards that are available for issuance via its ATM network. The product is built on the recently launched open application development platform, TranzAxis, from Compass Plus.

The process of card issuing is completely automated and done in an online mode. The customer can choose between three different currencies for their card and activate an SMS notification service to receive instant messages for every transaction. In addition they can enable the Personal Profile that allows the customer to manage their card, change limits, block/unblock the card, check transaction history, receive bank statements and, based on templates, make payments with this card for mobile services, Internet access and other utility services - all of which can be done over the Internet. This eliminates the problem of how to use the balance leftover on the prepaid card, if not all of the funds available were spent.

Online payments have become ubiquitous for millions of people and in turn Card Not Present fraud is now also one of the top concerns for the industry. To reduce the risk of compromising the details of the main card/account, experts recommend using virtual cards that contain all the requisite details yet remove the majority of fraud concerns. The customer can set various limits in terms of the number of transactions and the total spend allowed. After usage the limits can be brought down to zero, so even if the details were compromised, the cardholder suffers no financial loss.

Virtual prepaid Visa cards will become a convenient tool that can be issued in any NEYVA BANK ATM by putting the money on the card in cash (all of the bank's ATMs are equipped with a cash-in function and accept cash) or by transferring it from an already existing Visa card from any bank. To receive the card the customer does not need to open an account at the bank or provide personal details, a contact phone number is enough - this way prepaid cards are useful if the customer wants to ensure confidentiality on their payments. The card is available for immediate use on the Internet.

Deputy Chairman of the Board at NEYVA BANK shared the technical details of launching the new service into commercial use: "The technological foundation for the bank's new product is the TranzAxis platform from Compass Plus that allowed us to meet all business requirements with necessary additional features, which significantly increases the appeal of the new service in the shortest period of time and without the vendor's involvement. Also, once again, I would like to point out the convenience of working with Kalignite ATM software that enables the efficient and effortless implementation of user-friendly ATM scenarios of various complexity for servicing customers via ATMs. We developed the service from scratch and overall - from idea to launch - it has taken our IT staff 15 man-days. In my career this is an unprecedented case of developing card products - card and processing systems of the previous generation cannot ensure such speed of implementation."
