As the home of the active trader, CMC Markets has directly responded to the needs of its premium clients by developing interactive technology - components of which have never before available to spread betting and CFD traders in the UK.

Price depth ladders (now live on the platform)
The platform upgrade also allows clients to execute significantly larger trade sizes (via one single order) and to see CMC Markets' top 10 levels of price depth for the instrument corresponding to the size of the trade they are placing, where available. In line with CMC Markets' objective to provide increased transparency for traders, price depth ladders will allow clients to view a single price available to them for their selected trade size and instrument.

Pattern recognition scanner (now live on the platform)
The pattern recognition scanner was developed in response to the growing technical sophistication of retail traders, who require extensive and detailed charting software. The CMC Markets product development team observed that automated rule based systems were continuing to increase in popularity so they dedicated substantial resources to develop their existing pattern recognition technology even further. This greatly enhanced version of pattern recognition includes a scanning feature that automatically scans over 120 major instruments every five minutes, to find new potential technical trade set-ups across all major asset types.

Chart message boards (coming soon)
UK clients will soon be able to (for the first time) discuss, share and swap charts and technical analysis via interactive message boards (imbedded in each instrument available on the platform) which their peers can then view, comment and rate. Within this online community, if a client sees analysis or a trade set up on a message board (e.g. the EURUSD message board) that suits their trading strategy, they can paste this anis analysis directly into their own live charts.

Other capabilities of the upgraded platform include:

  • Daily performance values for all instruments, allowing clients to view and sort live performance values for each asset class in both their product library and their watchlist
  • New chart types, improvements and inbuilt chart education
  • Feedback module imbedded into the bottom navigation bar of the platform, enabling customers to feedback any comments they have, at any time.
  • Multi-language capability so that clients can choose their preferred language

Craig Inglis, Co-Head of Product Development at CMC Markets said: We always listen to our customers and for the past nine months we have invested significantly in building this technology via several in-house and external experts from areas such as business operations, dealing, risk management, pricing and design. Our end goal is to continuously improve the trading technology we offer to cl ients so they can be empowered to make sound trading decisions in an evolving market. The platform developments do not stop here, however. Work on the next phase of updates has already begun to ensure that we continue to provide our clients with the best technology in the market."

Speed and mobility is essential when trading, particularly in volatile markets. Upgrades have therefore also been added to the iPhone and iPad software. Functions include percentage and point change, daily high and low values and current market spread, as well as insights, price alerts and drawing tools. Mobile charting now has a greater price history (e.g. 12 versus 3 months of daily data) and improved price and time axis scaling to provide more intuitive value.

Upgrades have also been made to the spread betting platform for Android and the CFD version will be released shortly after a staggered release in each region.
