RBS Citizens Financial Group, Inc. today unveiled enhanced online and mobile banking platforms for Citizens Bank and Charter One customers, with updates including person-to-person payments on the web and expanded mobile functionality that is now available to Android users in addition to iPhone users.

Last year, customers accessed Citizens Bank and Charter One apps for iPhone more than 12 million times. With nearly half of U.S. mobile subscribers now estimated to be using Android phones, the availability of the apps for Android users is expected to drive significant additional usage. Both apps offer the ability to make payments, check balances, view account history and find a branch or ATM while on the go. The bank today also introduced new mobile app features including expedited transfers and the ability to view check images, save multiple user IDs and make external account-to-account transfers.
New tools for consumer customers
With the enhancements announced today, Citizens Bank and Charter One consumer customers can:
Make person-to-person payments - Online Banking customers can now use the Popmoney® payment service to make payments to anyone using an email address or a mobile phone number, making it easy to pay back a friend or send money quickly to a child at college. They also can request payment from another person. Popmoney is a secure payment solution certified by TRUSTe and VeriSign.
Make external account-to-account transfers - Online Banking and Mobile Banking customers will have improved functionality to transfer money between their Citizens Bank and Charter One accounts and their accounts at other banks.
New tools for Business Banking customers
With Popmoney and external account-to-account transfer functionality also now available to Business Banking customers, small bu, small businesses can improve their cash-management processes while monitoring their finances with a single view of all of their accounts. The new functionality will allow small businesses to:
Access Popmoney via Online Banking to send payments electronically from their business accounts to vendors or to the accounts of employees held at more than 23,000 institutions - with real time tracking.
Access Popmoney via Online Banking to invoice and collect payments through a centralized online invoicing system that provides the ability to brand invoices.
Make external account-to-account transfers through either Online Banking or Mobile Banking.
